Who are they?
If you go on their website you'll see a high-quality video giving you an insight into their company. Since cannabis has been legalized in Canada, Edison is a company that has taken advantage of this with their products.
Edison is a brand that has been created by its parent company called Organigram Holdings. They utilize a different method compared to most greenhouse labs. Instead of using more space around, they use sophisticated shelves to stack more plants going up.
Their focal point is mostly the cannabis flower itself. But since flowers can be changed into other products, they've expanded into other types of cannabis products. Their leading product is CBD oil due to its popularity in the Canadian market.
What Separates Them From The Pack?
Apart from their smart cannabis growing, let's talk about their CBD products.
Their products use have different cannabinoid ratios as well as cannabis types. If you didn't already know, not all cannabis is the same. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of cannabis strains which all have unique chemical structures.
Let's dive into Edison's CBD oil product line to see what they sell.
Their Product Line
There are three different strains of cannabis. Sativa, Indica, and Hybrids.
The best way to describe Sativa strains is similar to coffee. It has a stimulating effect and it's perfect for the day time. Indica strains, however, are better suited for night time as they make you more tired. Hybrids will have you feeling both of these effects.
The effects of these strains are due to the terpenes in them. I'll touch on more on this soon.
When you go to the oil section of Edison's website you will see the different options.
As you can see above there are different strains types. But there's also CBD and 5:5 ratio.
Let's go into each one so you know what they are.
As I mentioned before, Sativa strains usually give you that coffee-like effect. The terpenes present in this are Caryophyllene and Humulene. I'll talk more about these terpenes and what they do in a bit.
These contain THC and no CBD. This isn't CBD oil.
This isn't CBD oil either. It contains all THC and no CBD. You'll find out what the different effects are of these cannabinoids after I go into each product.
All the strain types of oils are not CBD oil. This also has only THC and no CBD. So far their Sativa, Indica, and Hybrid oil all have THC and no CBD. These are described as cannabis oils and not CBD oil as they only contain THC.
Finally, we're getting to the CBD oils. This contains CBD and no THC. So unlike cannabis oils, this has a completely different effect.
The terpenes present in this is Caryophyllene.
Lastly, there is an oil that is like a hybrid between cannabis oil and CBD oil. It has both THC and CBD at an even ratio of 5:5. That means you get the effects of both THC and CBD synergistically.
The differences between Edison's CBD Oil Products
So as you saw in their product line they have oils that have either all THC, all CBD, or a mix of both. THC and CBD are two abundant cannabinoids in cannabis that give you completely different effects.
Let's get into them.
Understanding CBD vs THC
This short video should summarise the difference between the two.
What Are Terpenes?
Terpenes are what give cannabis its smells, taste, and additional effects. They work in synergy with the plant's cannabinoids and flavonoids. Different cannabis strains have different terpenes.
Here is a chart to show you the effects of the main terpenes in cannabis. The terpenes in Edison CBD oil is Caryophyllene so you can have a look at the effects below.
What are the effects of Edison CBD oil?
Here is what to expect from each product:
- Sativa - a head high
- Indica - a body high
- Hybrid - a combination of a head high and body high
- CBD oil - all the main benefits of cannabis without any head high
- 5:5 - a milder head and body high
Here is a short review of Edison CBD oil by a doctor. In summary, he says that it helps him with relaxing and improving his mood.
CBD oil is not a well-regulated industry. A lab test is the only way to verify potency and safety. If the company doesn't say that their products are lab tested on their site then we see that as a red flag.
Consumers need to be wary of possible contaminants and other impurities that can harm you.
Verdict: Is Edison CBD Oil Any Good?
Edison CBD oil seems like a good product but there are a few red flags. The main thing is that it doesn't say on their website that their products are lab tested. This is extremely important for verifying potency and safety. It may say that it has 10mg CBD/ml but there isn't a lab test to prove it.
Another thing that we don't like is that you can only get 250mg total CBD per bottle. This is hardly anything and you'll probably run out in a week.
What You Can Get Instead
There's a much better CBD oil that you can get. A lot of Canadians are starting to catch onto a brand called Cannaleafz. Their products are lab-tested and you can get like 6 bottles of CBD oil for the price of 3. They have some ridiculous offers for the high-quality products that they have.
