Who are they?

Care By Design is a company that operates in Northern California. They use outdoor-grown cannabis that’s high in CBD to create their products.  Cannabis high in CBD gives users different effects compared to your typical cannabis strain that is higher in THC. I’ll talk more about the effects of these cannabinoids later on.

They only use full-spectrum products as opposed to broad-spectrum or CBD isolate. Think of full-spectrum as whole foods. It contains all the beneficial cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and phytochemicals.

Their website also has a lot of useful information about CBD and guides on how to choose the right cannabinoid ratio.

What Separates Them From The Pack?

The thing that makes them unique from other CBD companies is their wide selection of cannabinoid ratios. You have five CBD-THC ratios to choose from. So you have a choice of selecting a ratio that suits your needs. They also use hemp strain products that contain less than 0.3% THC. These hemp strains are like your typical CBD oils that you’ll see on the CBD market.

Their Product Line

If you go to Care By Design CBD website you’ll see two options.

care by design's cannabis vs hemp

As you can see above you can choose between their high CBD cannabis lineup or hemp. The difference between the two is the cannabinoid content, specifically THC.

If the product has less than 0.3% THC it’s known as hemp. If it contains any more than that then it’s known as cannabis. You’ll find out what to expect when using each of them in a bit.

Cannabis Lineup

When you select the cannabis section, you’ll be taken to a page that has a little video. Below that, you’ll see what products they offer.

These are the different types of Cannabis products they have:

  • Vape cartridges
  • Soft gels
  • Drops
  • Topicals
  • Gummies

Each cannabis product contains different ratios with different effects:

  • 18:1 (270mg:15mg) – For those who don’t want to experience any psychoactivity.
  • 1:1 (240mg:240mg)– Gives you psychoactive effects that may cause sleepiness.
  • 2:1 (240mg:120mg) – Has mild psychoactive effects that good for both daytime and nighttime.
  • 4:1 (240mg:60mg) – Little psychoactive effects that aren’t overpowering.
  • 8:1 (240mg:30mg) – Has little to no psychoactive effect which is great for daytime use.

cbd vaping cartridges

Care By Design has vaping cartridges that you can use with a vaping device. When you vape, the cannabinoids hit your bloodstream almost instantly. That means you’ll feel the effects the quickest compared to the other products.

Soft Gels

cbd soft gels

Soft gels are taken like regular capsules. The effects of these will take the same amount of time as gummies because it has to be digested first. Depending on the cannabinoid ratio you want to be careful how you dose. Here are their ratios and effects:

  • Mild psychoactivity and good for daytime use.
  • These will have the strongest psychoactive effect out of the rest. It’s best for nighttime use.
  • These are the second strongest on this list. Low dosages have mild effects but the more you take the more psychoactive it is.

cbd drops

These drops are taken sublingually. The general method is to put the drops under your tongue, wait 30-90 seconds, and then swallow. Similar to their vaping products, they have the same CBD-THC ratios. The only difference is that the effects of vaping hit instantly, whereas drops take slightly longer. The effects of drops will also last you longer compared to vaping.

cbd topical

Unlike the others, Care By Design CBD topicals is used on the skin instead of being ingested. This topical has a 1:1 ratio which creates a soothing effect and pain relief.

cbd gummies

The effects of gummies take anywhere from 1-2 hours so dosing is important. Once the effects kick in, it can last for up to 6 hours. The 1:1 ratio will have the strongest effect because it’s a balance between THC and CBD. With the others, they have higher CBD to THC so they would be better if you don’t have a tolerance for THC. In that case, the 18:1 ratio would be best for the least amount of psychoactivity but long-lasting effects.

Hemp Lineup

As I mentioned before, the difference between hemp and cannabis is the amount of THC. Cannabis that has more than 0.3% THC is known as cannabis or marijuana. Cannabis that has less than 0.3% THC is known as hemp.

Care By Design has two types of hemp products. CBD drops and CBD soft gels. Both of them have 720mg of total CBD in each bottle.

Unlike the cannabis products that have different ratios, the hemp products have different terpenes. I’ll explain more about what terpenes are in a bit.

Their hemp lineup has different names depending on the terpene profile. Each one has 16 different terpenes but some have more dominant terpenes that create the effects. These are the names:

  • Relief
  • Rest
  • Balance
  • Calm
  • Uplift
  • Rest

This is supposed to help with physical wellness and pain relief.

Dominant terpenes: Beta-caryophyllene, Beta-Myrcene, Eucalyptol

This helps balance your mood and improve wellbeing.

Dominant terpenes: Nerolidol, Humulene, Beta-Pinene

Helps soothe stress and calm fears.

Dominant terpenes: Linalool, Beta-Myrcene, Alpha-Ocimene

Supposed to boost your mood.

Dominant terpenes: Delta-Limonene, Alpha-Pinene, Alpha-Bisabolol.

Helps you sleep, stay asleep, and wake up refreshed.

Dominant terpenes: Terpinolene, Eucalyptol, Linalool

Understanding CBD vs THC

There are hundreds of cannabinoids in cannabis but the main two are CBD and THC.

Here is a short video explaining the differences.

CBD To THC ratios

If you’re someone who is sensitive to THC or you’ve never tried it before, then high CBD will give you a better experience. Higher THC products can create adverse reactions such as increase anxiety, paranoia, and nausea.

Hemp products are ideal if you want to get all the benefits of cannabis without any psychoactive effect. Due to the extremely low amounts of THC (less than 0.3%) you can take higher dosages without any adverse reactions.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes are other plant chemicals in cannabis that contribute to the effects you feel. That’s why full-spectrum CBD products are superior to other extracts because it contains all the beneficial cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids.

Here are terpenes in cannabis explainedsome of the effects of the most abundant terpenes found in cannabis:

Value of Care By Design CBD Products

You can determine the value of CBD by how much it cost per mg. The less it cost per mg, the more valuable it is. It’s the same concept as getting gas for your car.

I’m only going to put the cost per mg for the Care By Design hemp products. The cannabis products have more THC so you’ll experience more mental effects. However, with CBD products it’s important to get the most that you can.

The CBD drops and soft gels are both 720mg of CBD for each bottle. Each of them is $65 so the total cost per mg is $0.09.

This is actually a pretty good deal but the potency isn’t that high.

Lab-Results: Is  Care By Design Safe?

Care By Design doesn’t have any lab-test on its website. This is always a red flag when I look at CBD companies. Lab-testing is important for verifying potency claims on the label and also checking for safety.

Having this creates trust with customers. Companies that usually don’t have this on their site have something to hide. So based on this alone I cannot trust their label. It may have less CBD or THC than they claim and their products may not be safe.

Verdict: Is Care By Design CBD any good?

Care By Design has a well-diversified range of products that suit different needs. The only thing we don’t like about them is that they have low potency ranges and they have no lab-test.

A brand that I recommend all my readers is CBDPure. They have everything that Care By Design has apart from vaping cartridges and gummies.

They have potencies ranging up to 1000mg and the cost per mg is low. Another important thing is that they have a lab-test for all of their products including the one you buy.

If you want to get your hands on the best CBD products on the market then I highly suggest you check them out. They also have a 90-day money-back guarantee so you have nothing to lose.
